Benefits of Workers’ Comp Insurance

The hospitality industry is vast, fast-paced, and never going out of style. It encompasses a wide variety of businesses including hotels, restaurants, golf courses, and more. As safe as these environments may be, and as careful as employees may be, sometimes accidents can happen. That is why businesses and employees alike can benefit from hospitality workers’ comp insurance.

The first and most obvious benefit of having workers’ comp insurance is being in compliance with the law. Almost every state requires businesses to have workers’ compensation insurance for their employees. Another benefit is that it protects businesses from lawsuits because employees who take advantage of workers’ comp are not able to sue their employer over injuries that are covered by the policy.

Employees benefit from workers’ comp insurance as well. If an employee sustains an injury on the job they are usually eligible to receive money to cover the cost of their medical bills, including rehab if required, as well as lost wages for the days they miss due to the injury. Payment on a workers’ comp claim is not taxed, so even though policies typically only cover a percentage of the wages that are lost, employees can still receive a fair amount. Hospitality workers can rest easier knowing that they will be covered by hospitality workers’ comp in the event of an accident.
